Don Your Snorkel
Art is “Distill” by Zena Holloway
Cue the circus music and don your snorkel darklings because Mercury retrograde is here. I am a rabid fan of these all too regular transits for the insight, movement and creative boon they offer. Hysterical naysayers and astrodoomsday prophets, pipe down. Your control freakery is now a relic and your panic aids nothing. This entire year is built on discovering new ways to see and be and these cosmic curve balls are all part of the plan.
Yes your shit will get scrambled. Your mobile might develop an inexplicable tropical disease and your laptop may be emailing old ghosts without your consent (or knowledge). Signing anything in blood is off the table until April and the best laid plans should include them going awry. Your vision and perspective is being shifted so this is nothing like business as usual.
Uncle Merc is in deep water, out of his element and with little choice but to surrender. His retrograde begins at the anaretic degree of Pisces, the final powerful point of our zodiac and the place that holds knowledge and resolution. But the retrograde tide pulls him (and us) away from all we think we know towards Neptune in shaman mode, the bookend of this rx journey.
This will be a surreal exploration of our inner worlds and the multitudes they contain. Your emotional body claims centre stage now. Intuition is the only currency. Your dreamscape holds all the answers if you care to decipher its codex, whispering the language of your soul to you. In our dreams, past mingles with future and nothing is as it first seems. So too with this retro, which requires deep musing and widening consideration of the arc of your life.
All retrogrades ask us to track back in order to leap forwards. They have a discernible physiology that invokes necessary wrongfooting and unforeseen tangents. The only thing you can be sure of is that you are being shifted, at a cellular level and from the inside out. If you fight the rip, you'll likely drown. Surrender is an art that rewards the brave and the willing. Let the tides and currents of this strange waveform carry you on a phantasmagorical adventure to new shores.
