Dark Moon Considerations

One of my most brilliant teachers, a rakish afficionado of high school history, taught me two most important life lessons. The first was critical thinking: that it is crucial not to slavishly believe what you have had plopped in front of you. The second was to remember your history because as he proved to us ad infinitum: those who refuse to remember their history are condemned to repeat it.

With a world dreadfully short on takers of either school of thought, the dance of the planets is this year ensuring we learn these vital life skills, lest our worlds crumble without them. This largely accounts for one of the throbbing undercurrents and key signatures of this year: heavy hitters Saturn and Pluto in Capricornia.

This be the quaking that has been decimating flimsy self-serving unsustainable structures - economically, socially, politically. The very bones on which our society has been built are cracking and crumbling, as well they must to serve the many. And what happens on the big stage is playing out too on the small stage that is our life.

Saturn is all about taking responsibility, coming from integrity and not shirking the work to get there. His method takes no shit nor excuses, not anyone's. Pluto is our underworld and thus our relationship to both our shadow and our power. He whose hallmarks are chaos and destruction. Hades will tear your house down just to get you to dig deep. Also wildly unpopular in a society that champions instant gratification and photoshopping as life skills. Both are in Capricornia, whose ambitions are only achieved on steady unfaltering steps in the right direction.

Right about now, Pluto has the south node in a half nelson with no plans to let him go. The past is on the drawing board. Our history and our karma (or dire refusal to look at or learn from them) is writ large in our worlds.

So riddle me this darklings, as the moon hides her pretty face…

Are you still doing the same thing and expecting a different result?
Do you keep making the same mistake but blaming the new season characters each time?

Be willing to crack the book of your past and learn from what you wrote, once upon a time. Or perish, keeping in mind that history is always written by the victor.
