Cawing Change

Changing view from my tree stump altar

I woke this morning to the crows cawing change outside my window and a blanket of mist in the valley. The sky and the earth is shifting and I can feel it in my bones. Lady Luna's trajectory is altered and the faintest chill begins to creep in overnight. Last week's sweltering was the siren call of Indian Summer and it is time now to prepare for the Winter months ahead, collecting sticks for kindling and pulling sun shades away. Already the beetles have begun to strip the cedars and the butterflies are making the most of late flowers, lingering sunshine.

The equinox is nearly here. Once again the wheel creaks marking the turn and Autumn falls truly upon us. Soon the leaves will colour and the hearth will crackle and we will settle into the cooler months, wrapped in all we have learned from the summertime.
