Today (and tomorrow's) cosmic challenge once more comes courtesy of Pluto with Jupiter, the sun and our third quarter moondance in supporting roles. And it is again design to test the mettle of our personal power structure, shining a harsh light into its cracks. All the better to close the gaps darklings, in a year built on reclamation of our truest self and the life we crave.
Personal power is actually built by chewing on your own gristle. It is strengthened in times of adversity and challenge, particularly those that kick out the crutches and leave you to go it alone. Power is not restricted by external conditions, dictates or the actions of others - though all can knock you off your spot. It pivots on perspective and is nourished by our whole truth.
Shadow work is when we go hunting for our personal power by finally, completely, actually taking responsibility for all of ourselves. The done good user friendly self. The just drawn this way self who yet hunts for grace under pressure. The self you are beneath the labels people have taped over your wounds. The secret self you only share tender morsels of with a chosen few.
Personal power is not to be confused with control, which only hides deep seated insecurity and a dearth of trust. Having been conditioned to view tightly controlling so much of our lives as diligence, we are all recovering control freaks on the spectrum of uncertainty. Multuplied by a factor of covid-19.
The first way to reclaim your personal power is to cease mindlessly giving it away. Anything - or anyone - you think about all the time is holding dominion over your precious mental real estate. Lock the gate. The second is to cease mindfully giving it away by re-coding your programming to do so, the coalface of true shadow work. And the third is to face your fears, the kind of exalted truism that leaves the terrified quaking. But it means life switches from happening to you into happening for you. Now with added purpose.
As we plunge through our world's sum of all fears, we are laying foundations for a newer truer source of power. Beholden to none other. Hidden in plain sight. Within.
