Solstice Gateway
And so the wheel turns, once more and again. In the days before we tried to squeeze time into a clock and calendar, it was marked by the passage of the sun and moon, the movement of the stars above and the earth and her seasons below.Today is the solstice: in the north marking the depth of Winter's cauldron space and in the south the peak of high Summer. This is aligned to the Capricorn ingress as Father Sun departs the Saggilands to ascend the cresting new year on cloven hoof. We begin and end our annual cycle in Capricornia at 3.28am tomorrow morn AEDT.It is either the longest day or longest night, an extended space for us to marinate in the fullness of light or dark, heat or cold, completion or creation. As the furthest point from the equinox we are on the far end of the seesaw, a tipping point if ever there was.For some this feels off kilter and out of balance; for others the depth of singular energy delivers clarity for what is yet to unfold. Feel into and connect with what this marker means for you. By way of ritual you may like to pen a love letter to your triple goddess: she who sat at the reverse tipping point six months ago and she who will read it in another six, written by she always present in the centre. Solstice is a gateway linking us in this liminal time and space.Traditionally a day for ritual and feasting, bunkering down with nearest and dearest or dancing with wild abandon under dazzling skies, this is an highly magic day. May its many blessings infuse your life until the wheel turns once more. This is the solstice, the still point of the sun, its cusp and midnight, the year's threshold and unlocking, where the past lets go of and becomes the future; the place of caught breath.~ Margaret AtwoodEating Fire: Selected Poetry 1965 - 1995Art: The Moment of Eclipse, 1973 by Bob Haberfield© Kerrie Basha, 2017
