The Balm of Your Attention

It is accepted lore that whatever you focus on expands, in an effort to reward your vision and meet the direction of your attention. At the new moon we traditionally cast in the direction of our dearest dreams, taking care to be mindful of what we wish for. If we have been able to relinquish the many hurdles we harbour within us in the warm embrace of the dark of the moon and we take steady, repeated steps in the direction of our desired outcome, our success is as sure as the bright lady's path across the heavens.
The key to it all is our unwavering attention.
The Oracle of L.A. linked last eve's new moon to a gratitude ritual, cunningly crafted to focus our attention at what we have right in front of us, around us, supporting and loving us. As Amanda so rightly puts it, "gratitude draws things towards us". It is restorative and shows us in no uncertain terms what we hold dear.
The Taurean realm of sensual delights is designed to show us what (or who or where) thrills us. Our senses show us unequivocally what we value the most. That flip in your belly? The goosebumps on your skin? The tingling on your tongue or the deep sigh into your belly? Placing our attention squarely is just the beginning of the revelry.
In the universal ledger of checks and balances, there is always a flipside to watch out for - no matter the stars we bathe beneath. Under Taurean skies we must be wary of our complacency. The kind that keeps us beached on the lounge or stuck in an old sabotage. The sort that figures there's no point so why try. Anything that holds our eyes mired to the great distractions of our modern age and removes them from what's actually in front of us.
Burying our head elsewhere or taking yet another raincheck on revelling in that which we are lucky enough to already call our own is so fatal to our desires as to be downright dangerous. We forget too quickly the days passed when it was our life right now we were hankering for. It is an all too short bite at the cherry we call life.
So the first day of this sweet strong steady new moon, where are you casting your precious attention?
