In the dark of the moon before eclipse season begins, the tide sits low. The air is thick with regret and heavy with longing. Irritation nips from dark corners, challenging you to move beyond discomfort to a graceful exit from old ways and long past days.Fire crackles in the hearth, flames calling for consumption of all that crunches underfoot. The pull to what comes next is palpable but first it forces you to bear the weight you carry. And to muse upon how much of it can be set down before the moon's gate opens its arms to you.How much of it are you willing to relinquish? It is never that we can't.It is that we won't.There’s a trick to the Graceful Exit. It begins with the vision to recognize when a job, a life stage, a relationship is over -- and to let go. It means leaving what’s over without denying its validity or its past importance in our lives. It involves a sense of future, a belief that every exit line is an entry, that we are moving on rather than out.~ Ellen GoodmanDark moon musing on eclipsia, the art of rest and letting go in the coven.
